Lately I've been using the ProTools/Mbox 2 set up for recording. I used it and the the included plug-ins for Perfect Day and I'm on Fire.
It's a great unit for the ProTools beginner and well worth the money.
Also for those two songs I ran my signal through a PreSonus BlueTube DP Preamp then into the Mbox 2. Also for signal integrity I'm using Monstor Cable between the mics and the preamp and Mbox 2.
When I started recording for Rocket Ship and Spring's Song I recorded everything into a through a Behringer Eurorack UB1202 and into a Tascam PocketStudio 5. I ran the mic signal through a PreSonus TubePre and some of my guitar rack units: DBX 1066 Compressor/Limiter, and a TC Electronic G Force for Reverb and Delay
My vocal and acoustic mic of choice has been the Rhode NT-1A, while I've used the Shure 57, and Beta 57 mics on the Marshall cabinet.
